Isles - Interdisciplinary artist & facilitator

Isles is a multi-disciplinary artist currently working with abstract photography, mark-making and projection. Drawing on their relationship with nature and elemental beings, Isles often revisits key motifs and themes within their work including light, shadow, fluidity and reflection. Over the last decade, their practice has been influenced by animism and the mystical nature of the everyday - revealing what is alive and in motion beneath the concrete of the city.

London-born and raised, their work expresses a persistent searching for freedom within the uncertainty of these times. Living with neurodivergence and chronic mental health conditions, Isles is most interested in how to go beyond the chaos of the mind through presence and abstraction; accessing new realities and altering the perception of time.

Influenced by queer theory and alternative ways of learning, Isles views their practice as an ongoing conversation with both the human and non-human world. Through the act of re-meeting the world through its lines, textures, shapes and movements; Isles’s practice re-contextualises seemingly mundane moments and reminds us to re-imagine the world around us.
